Experienced industry figure Rod Buchan has been appointed executive chairman at IMES Group.
Rod has more than 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector, including five years as managing director of Aker Offshore Partner in Aberdeen. In 2013, he established his own management company to advise oil and gas clients on their growth and other strategic issues.
IMES, which has six operational locations in the UK and one in the United States, is a marine and subsea business, providing inspection, monitoring and engineering solutions to the global energy, defence and industrial markets.
Melfort Campbell, co-founder and chairman of IMES Group Holdings, said: “Rod is a well-known and highly-respected industry executive, with a track record of growing companies through leadership, strategic development, strong commercial management and customer service. His knowledge, experience and credentials are the perfect fit for IMES as we pursue our growth ambitions.”
Rod Buchan said: “There is huge potential to grow the IMES business by bringing its in-house expertise and capabilities to the wider market, not just in the UK but further afield, in particular the United States. We have an outstanding team at the business, one with a formidable reputation for product development and problem solving. We’re looking to engage further with clients to highlight our product range, in particular in the subsea and maritime markets.”
In addition to his key role at IMES, Rod will continue to be involved in the consultancy business he set up in 2013.
Rod is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and holds a Master’s Degree in Construction Law and Arbitration.
