Aberdeen city and shire secondary school pupils seeking a practical insight into the oil and gas industry are being urged to sign up to Opito’s structured work-experience programme.
The oil and gas skills organisation is organising the week-long programme from Monday, June 1, which will give pupils aged 16 or over the opportunity to engage with some of the city’s major energy companies through a series of practical activities and experiences.
Pupils will see and hear from industry professionals at a range of different companies including BP, Maersk Training, Kongsberg Maritime, Baker Hughes, Apache and Schlumberger to gain knowledge and understanding of how the companies work together to explore, recover and process hydrocarbons. The programme was piloted last year and proved highly popular among the school pupils and the companies taking part.
