Organisers of a popular fundraising relay race in Moray are urging more entrants to come forward.
Already 60 teams have signed up to take part in the relay race during Elgin’s 13th biennial Marafun event next month.
However, the track can accommodate twice that amount and Elgin Rotary Club is keen to convince any undecided participants to give it a go.
The club’s Jim Walker said: “We have had a good response from local fun-runners but we’re hoping to make things a little bit more competitive by attracting a few more clubs to take part.
“We’ve had one ladies’ running club sign up, but we’re keen for other sporting and running clubs to get involved.
“In the past we have been able to feature around 120 teams, so we know we have room for plenty more competitors.”
Teams of five will compete in the adult street relay, with each member required to run a total of just over five miles around the 26-mile town-centre circuit.
Since its inception in 1991 the Marafun has raised £650,000 for local charities and the 100 recipients of this year’s collection have already been decided.
While the deadline for entries is officially listed as May 24, Mr Walker said teams who wanted to sign up beyond that point would still be able to join in.
The run will be held from noon to 5pm on Sunday, June 7.
