Five people have been arrested after a police car exploded outside a polling station in England.
Firefighters were called to the blast at the Bosworth election count as glass and debris were thrown across Coventry Road in Hinckley.
The explosion caused “substantial damage” to nearby buildings.
Firefighters at the scene said they believed the fire had been started deliberately and five people have now been arrested in connection with the incident.
Leicestershire Police have released a statement confirming: “Officers have arrested five men following a fire in Hinckley.
“At 2.30am it was reported that a police car parked on Coventry Road was on fire. The fire service attended and initial investigations were carried out. Five men were arrested in connection with the incident shortly afterwards. Damage was caused to a nearby building.
“No one was injured in the incident.”
