High-ranking Liberal Democrat Vince Cable was one of the biggest scalps on election night.
It seems that the former business secretary, who represented Twickenham for 18 years before losing his seat, has been trying to thank everyone who voted for him… including himself.
A tweet from the official account of Mr Cable sent on Saturday read “Thank you to the 23,563 people who voted for me on Thursday. It has been a great honour to serve such a wonderful constituency for 18 years.”
Bizarrely he then replied to himself “@vincecable Good to hear from you – very best wishes. Vince.”
The social media platform had little sympathy for the ex-cabinet minister, widely remembered for privatising Royal Mail.
Now out of frontline politics Mr Cable will have more time to tweet to himself in the future.
