A vital north-east emergency service which rescues walkers and climbers from danger is calling on its supporters to take part in a fundraising trek.
Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team, based in Westhill, holds a sponsored walk every year to help with running costs, which amount to around £40,000 annually.
This year marks the 45th walk and will take place on the Glen Tanar estate, in Aboyne, on June 6.
The route is just over 14 miles and anyone taking part should have a moderate level of fitness.
The event will start at the estate’s visitor centre and from there participants will walk to Glen Tanar House.
The route then goes up the Glen for around a mile, through the Glen Tanar Nature Reserve, giving walkers the chance to spot native capercailles and ospreys.
After travelling down the north side of Craigendinnie hill, walkers will head back towards the visitor centre, past the historic St Lesmo chapel.
The centre will then offer food and refreshments to those taking part in the event.
The team cover the Cairngorms, Deeside and Donside and members are on call 24-hours a day, seven-days a week, all year round.
More information about the walk, and how to take part, can be found the rescue team’s website at www.amrt.org.uk.
