An unemployed plater was fined £200 at Lerwick Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to headbutting a bouncer at a Lerwick nightclub.
The court heard that Stewart John Grazier, 26, of Stanley, County Durham, assaulted the bouncer at Posers Nightclub, on Lerwick’s Commercial Street, on November 30.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said Grazier carried out the attack while being escorted off the premises from which he had previously been banned.
But defence agent said his client had struggled with door staff when they would not let him enter the premises, and he had not been banned.
Honorary sheriff Sandy Cluness restricted the fine to £200 after hearing Grazier had been in custody since handing himself in to the police as he could not afford the trip to Shetland to attend court.
