A fire which took place at a charity store on the site of a former garden centre in Aberdeen has finally been extinguished, after hours of fire teams battling the blaze.
Fire teams were called out to the Somebody Cares charity based in the former Dobbies Garden Centre in Hazlehead earlier tonight after a walker spotted smoke and flames.
The fire has destroyed a number of outbuildings that the charity uses to store food, furniture and clothing that it supplies to those in need across Aberdeen.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that at around 11.30pm the last pockets of fire had finally been extinguished and the remaining fire teams left the scene.
Thanks to the efforts of the firefighters, who were deployed from the North Anderson Drive and Central fire stations, the flames did not spread from the outbuildings to the charity’s main storage warehouses, where the majority of its stock is kept.
Police are currently treating the fire as suspicious.
