Police were called to the southbound lane of the carriageway near the Marykirk turn off at 8.45am. The 30-year-old has been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The southbound lane of the road has been closed. A spokesman for the force said: “We were alerted to the incident at 8.45am. “Traffic from the southbound carriageway is being diverted via the A937 but the northbound lane is unaffected. “One man has been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.” Fire crews were also called to the incident after the car went on fire. Three appliances were called out from Brechin, Inverbervie and Laurencekirk. A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman added: “We had to extinguish the fire but never had to cut anyone free from the vehicles.” More to follow.
