A boxer dog who won the hearts of a north-east community is still looking for a new home.
Four-year-old Angel was taken to a dog pound and locked in solitary confinement after being found living out of hotel bins on the streets of Benidorm.
But thanks to the generosity of the people of Peterhead, charity Boxer Welfare Scotland stepped in and brought the pooch – who faced being put down after seven days in the pound – back to the north-east.
Last week, he suffered a set back when he fell seriously ill and needed emergency surgery to remove a dangerous abscess.
He has since recovered and now Lorraine Cumming, of the charity, is appealing to those who stepped in to save the dog to help find him a family to love.
Mrs Cumming revealed yesterday that there had so far been no interest in him.
“He’s getting his stitches out on Tuesday, then he’s ready to go,” she said. He’s doing absolutely great and he has a lovely temperament.
He’s a lovely boy.
“If we could get a nice, country home that would be fantastic. But we’ve not had any interest in him at all. If we can’t find a home, he’ll just have to stay with me. If he had to, he would just stay with us.
“He’s been through so much, there is absolutely no way we would just say he had to go. He deserves to have a nice home now where he’s going to be loved.”
