House fire in Sutherland extinguished

Fire crews have extinguished a fire at a house in Sutherland

Three appliances were sent to a house in an area called the Fairy Glen at Spinningdale, north of the Dornoch Firth.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said that crews stripped off the roof of the property in order to gain access to the blaze.

It is understood that the occupants alerted emergency services but were able to escape before the blaze took hold.

Crews from Dornoch, Tain and Lairg were called to the house at around 6.20pm. Police were also on scene.

They had extinguished the fire by around 8.30pm but remained on scene to damp down hotspots.
