A celebration of Moray’s unpaid carers will be held next month during national Carers’ Week.
The unsung heroes will be recognised in a free event organised by Moray’s Carer Service Provider Network in Elgin Town Hall on June 10.
Between 10am to 4pm, Moray’s first carer friendly community awards will be presented recognising local organisations, individuals and services for the support they give to unpaid carers.
Carers will also be able to learn more about the impact of the Carers’ Bill and help shape future support for carers in Moray.
Light lunch and entertainment will also be available.
Every day, an estimated 6,000 people in the UK take on new caring responsibilities.
Senior carers’ strategy officer Pauline Knox, of Moray health and social care partnership, said becoming a carer has a significant impact on a person’s life.
She said: “It takes time, energy, can leave you isolated and can be costly.
“It is important people who are already caring and those who are new to caring make sure they are accessing all the practical and emotional support they need to care safely as well as look after themselves.”
