A Glasgow tower block has been devastated by a giant blaze that ripped through a number of floors this evening.
Emergency services were called to the blaze within a block of flats in Charles Street, Glasgow shortly after 5.30pm.
It is believed the fire erupted on the veranda of a flat halfway up the building and spread to floors below.
Fire, police and ambulance services all rushed to the scene and a police spokesman has confirmed that all residents have been safely evacuated.
He said: “All persons that resided on floors affected have been evacuated and the local authority is assisting in providing a temporary rest centre for the occupiers. No one has been injured as a result of this incident.
“A multi agency response is ongoing to ensure the safety of those affected. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is continuing to tackle the residual effects of the fire.”
