Police find body in search for missing Western Isles sailor

Teams searching for a missing man off the Western Isles have discovered a body.

A major search operation was launched after the sailor, who had set off in a homemade boat, was reported missing.

Search teams found a boat, believed to belong to the sailor, this afternoon, and they have now found a body.

Police Scotland said: “Police can now confirm that the body of a man has sadly been recovered, not far from where the boat was located.

“The man’s next of kin have been informed of the circumstances.”
