All set for summer

With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about warm days and balmy evenings.

NEW OUTDOOR TERRACE

At Banchory Lodge, the outdoor terrace is now in full swing. Adjacent to our new bar, you’ll find a Mediterranean theme with wooden decking, colourful brollies and planters. It’s a chance to sit outside with views to the River Dee and try our new seasonal summer menu while sipping a nice crisp glass of wine.

In the evenings, as the temperature cools down, the terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail or two and watch the sun set. We even have blankets to keep you warm and patio heaters to ensure you are cosy for the cool nights.

OUR NEW FRIDAY FEELING MENU

Recently, we launched a new nibbles menu between 4pm and 6pm every day. It boasts platters that can be shared and enjoyed with friends. Aptly named That Friday Feeling, it is designed to get you relaxed and chilled out on any night of the week. Dishes include oysters, haggis bon bons served with a mustard whisky dip and whitebait served with garlic aioli.

RIVER OF FISH EXHIBITION

Banchory Lodge is set to showcase 150 ceramic fish on the lawns by the River Dee as we launch the River of Fish exhibition at the hotel on June 9.

Inspired by the successful Wild Dolphin exhibition last year, the Heckleburn Quines are behind this stunning art installation that will be one of the biggest to hit Scotland this year.

The exhibition focuses on the lifecycle of the salmon and, together with schools and other community groups, it has culminated in over 150 ceramic fish being created. There are even a limited number of adult fish called Bars of Silver, and Banchory Lodge immediately snapped one up. Local artist Bryce Thomson had already created characters that are depicted on our placemats and menus at the hotel. He then replicated the salmon character as a life-size ceramic fish that we will keep after the tour, as a showpiece at the hotel for guests to see.

This event will be open officially to the public on Monday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 16, at the hotel. We will have a special fish dish to celebrate the event on our menu for the week it is here. Thereafter, the exhibition will head to Buchanan’s at Woodend Barn.
