A sports car created in honour of a Moray whisky distillery has paid a visit to its spiritual home.
Vehicle manufacturers Morgan last year designed and built a car especially for the Balvenie distillery outside Dufftown, and it is now being admired by visitors to the plant.
The Balvenie Morgan, a 3.7 litre V6 four-seat roadster capable of going from zero to 62mph in 4.6 seconds, has been touring the UK to promote the distiller’s prize single malt.
But after nine months on the road, last week it arrived at the Moray plant to be inspected by Balvenie’s team of distillers.
Balvenie cooper Richard Anderson said: “It really is a stunning vehicle and a perfect fit with our whiskies.
“Having been given an insight into how the car was made, I can relate many of the woodworking skills utilised in the Morgan factory to my own role here.”
The distillery said that visitors had enjoyed getting photographs taken beside the vehicle, with some lucky guests being given a spin inside the luxury polished wood cabin.
The Balvenie Morgan was the idea of longstanding malt master David Stewart and Morgan’s head of design John Wells.
Tomorrow the car will journey south to continue its promotional tour, but it is scheduled to make a return visit to the distillery in July, when the venue hosts a conference for its distributors and marketers in Asia.
