A severe weather warning remains in place for the north and north-east as winds as strong as 60mph continue to batter Scotland.
A Met Office yellow “be aware” warning is in place for much of Scotland as gales and rain stretch from across the Atlantic and into the UK.
In particular, Traffic Scotland is warning motorists to take care while travelling on the A9 Dornoch Bridge and the A87 Skye Bridge due to high winds.
The bad spell of weather is expected to continue until tomorrow evening with forecasters saying travel is likely to be disrupted.
The news comes just days after bookies slashed the odds on Britain enjoying the hottest June on record as forecasters say a heatwave will send temperatures soaring.
Although Aberdeen got off to a sunny start this morning, showers and gales have been the norm for much of this evening.
This pattern is expected to continue into tomorrow with Peterhead and Fraserburgh due to experience the same.
In the Highlands, the week is off to a cloudy start and will follow the forecast of the north-east.
Meanwhile, the picture isn’t much better in other parts of the UK, gusts up to 78mph have been recorded and many areas had heavy rain despite bookies slashing the odds on the country enjoying the hottest June on record.
Sun worshippers were warned not to get too excited about predictions of a heatwave, because even though the weather will become more settled, it is not set to turn suddenly tropical.
