A woman was cut from the wreckage of her car yesterday after a crash in Bridge of Don.
Two cars collided in the northbound lane of the Ellon Road, near the Gordon Barracks, at about 1.30pm.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene, blocking off the busy A90 Aberdeen to Ellon stretch for nearly two hours while they worked.
Firefighters used cutting gear to free the woman, in her 20s, from her silver Citroen, which had collided with a white Mercedes.
She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with minor injuries. The driver of the Mercedes was not hurt.
Ali Cali was worked in the nearby Barber’s Pole when he heard a “big crash” and raced outside.
“I was working when it happened and I heard a big crash,” he said.
“All the customers rushed to the door and we saw a woman in her car in complete shock.”
Debris from the vehicles was scattered across the road, with the front of the Citroen hanging off. The back wheel had also come unattached, while the side of the car was badly crushed.
It came to a stop facing towards Aberdeen, with the white car in the opposite direction.
A police spokeswoman said: “It was a two vehicle road traffic collision, fire and ambulance were also in attendance.
“The ambulance service took one woman to hospital to be checked over, but she is thought to have minor injuries.”
One lane of the road reopened at around 3pm, with the second carriage opening 45 minutes later once the vehicles had been recovered.
