The wonders of the world are coming to Inverness this summer brick by brick.
Inverness Museum and Art Gallery is hosting a colourful exhibition from this weekend showcasing many of the world’s most famous sites, recreated entirely in Lego bricks.
All 28 of the ancient, historic, natural and modern wonders of the world have been lovingly recreated in plastic and will go on show this Saturday.
The models are the creation of Scottish artist Warren Elsmore who has also provided explanations of his techniques and instructions for some of the pieces for anyone interested in trying to recreate the models.
Among the highlights will be the Great Pyramid at Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Lighthouse of Alexandria from the Wonders of the Ancient World collection.
The Wonders of the Natural World include amazing recreations of the Niagara Falls, the Matterhorn and the Great Barrier Reef, while the Wonders of Science collection include technological advances such as the Model T Ford and the International Space Station.
Other attractions include the Great Wall of China, the ancient city of Petra and Stonehenge which are all included in the Wonders of the Historic World collection.
The Brick Wonders exhibition has toured the country and has led to record breaking turn-outs at other museums across Scotland.
The Inverness exhibition will feature local Lego creations by Highland primary schools who were tasked with creating their own landmarks out of bricks.
They will be housed in the small gallery of the museum and include Noss Head Lighthouse as re-imagined by pupils from Hillhead Primary in Wick and Loch Ness as constructed by Holm Primary.
Artist Mr Ellsmore said: “I’ve been a fan of Lego since I was a little kid, at least three years old. It’s a hobby which has now turned into a job.
“People have a real connection to Lego, because they either played with it as a kid themselves or their kids have.
High Life Highland have received sponsorship from a building firm of a different kind, Morrison’s Construction, for the duration of the exhibition.
Brick Wonders opens on Saturday, June 6 with refreshments and drop-in Lego activities taking place from 11am – 4pm.
