A sunbathing seal has welcomed the first rays of summer by putting on a ultra-cute display of head-scratching, stretching, and yawning.
The adorable creature was spotted by a local photographer under the Kessock Bridge, just north of Inverness.
Andy Howard said: “It was a break in the weather. We’ve had horrendous weather up here but the sun was coming down.
“She was just chilling out.”
The Moray Firth coastline stretches from Easter Ross on its north side, round by Inverness and the Kessock Bridge, through Moray itself and along to Aberdeenshire.
Wildlife lovers can often spot bottlenose dolphins, and seals are also a common sight, hauled out on mud banks and sandy shores.
