Families are being urged to pay a visit to an Aberdeen park to discovery the array of plants and animals inside.
A team of scientists and naturalists will be on hand to talk through some of the different types of species that can be found in Duthie Park as part of BioBlitz Week.
As part of the event, which is being held from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, there will be interactive activities for children and adults.
The activities will centre are the themes of ponds, soils and bugs.
Visitors will also find out about composting, how to start their own wormery, learn about the New Zealand Flatworm.
Pond dipping sessions are also being held which need to be booked by using a sign-up board in the park on Sunday, and youngsters need to be accompanied by an adult.
Aberdeen City Council communities, housing and infrastructure vice-convener councillor Jean Morrison said: “The BioBlitz is one of many held throughout the year which gives people a chance to discover what can be found literally under your feet at the park.
“As Duthie Park is within walking, cycling or a short bus ride from the city centre, the event is a good excuse to have a fantastic day out, no matter what your age.
“We hope as many people as possible come along and take part and find out all the exciting things there are to discover.”
