The blaze broke out at the ground floor flat in Manse Road at around 1.39pm. Two fire appliances from Kirkwall at at the scene. A fire service spokeswoman said that they were using two sets of breathing apparatus and a jet to fight the fire. It is understood that the flat was empty at the time of the incident.
