A motorcyclist has died from injuries he suffered in a crash on Lewis on Saturday afternoon.
The accident happened on the Barvas to Carloway Road.
The biker’s name has not been revealed.
Police said there was no other vehicle involved.
Emergency crews received the call at 1.30pm on Saturday.
The crash was on the A858 main road – on a stretch between Barvas and Brue on the westside of the island.
Specialist police traffic collision investigators from Dingwall are to examine the scene. They were expected to be arriving off Saturday night’s ferry to the island.
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed: “About 1.30 pm, emergency services attended a serious road traffic collision on the A858 near the Brue road junction.
Police closed the route between Brue village and Barvas Free Church in both directions for a crash scene investigation leaving motorists with a lengthy detour via the single track Pentland Road or longer double track road between Carloway and Stornoway.
