A Moray high school is appealing for people adept in foreign languages to help teach its pupils the importance of learning another tongue.
Buckie High School is asking local residents and business people who need to be fluent in more than one language to attend a special day later in the year.
The school’s principal teacher for modern languages, Catherine Eadon, said the ever-changing global community meant pupils had to have other languages to secure a good job in the future.
She explained: “We are looking for people who specialise and often use different languages in the course of their work to come forward.
“We want them to help stress to pupils how important it is to be able to speak in more than just English.
“Because of how the world is now, speaking only in your native tongue is sometimes not enough to get by.
“Knowing other languages can also help children understand other cultures, and learning them is really good for the brain.”
The Moray modern languages day will take place on Wednesday, October 7, at Buckie High School.
Anyone interested in helping out by giving a talk is asked to contact the school on 01542 835955.
