A fire has destroyed the engine room of a boat docked in Stromness harbour.
Firefighters were called to the Orkney harbour to tackle the blaze within the 60ft vessel at around 7.30am this morning.
A spokesman for the fire and rescue service said that the blaze had caused “considerable damage” to the engine room of the boat, which was docked at the harbour’s South Pier.
A police spokesman said that all of the crew were away from the boat when the fire broke out.
He added that the believed cause of the fire was an “electrical fault” though he added this was still to be confirmed.
Two fire crews from Stromness used hosereel jets and breathing equipment to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was out by around 8.30am but firefighters remained at the scene to damp down the area and used thermal imaging equipment to check for any remaining hot-spots.
