An Aberdeen pensioner has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary tonight after her television caught on fire, it is understood.
At 10.04pm three fire appliances were dispatched to Carnie Drive in the Ashgrove area of Aberdeen after a fire was reported to be blazing through the woman’s ground floor flat.
Speaking earlier tonight neighbours said that the cause of the fire was the woman’s television, which had then spread to her bedding and the rest of her home.
The woman, who is in her 70s, was taken to ARI to be treated for her injuries after ambulances arrived at the scene.
Neighbours said that the woman was not severely injured and had ash on her face as a result of the fire.
Outside the home burned belongings could be seen, including a severely fire damaged television and a singed mattress.
By 10.46pm the fire had been completely extinguished by the fire teams and the situation was declared safe.
