TV adventurer Ben Fogle was forced to make an emergency landing at RAF Lossiemouth when his latest challenge went awry.
The Castaway star is on a mission to travel from the island of Fair Isle, halfway between mainland Shetland and Orkney, to London in a low flying plane.
But when he encountered trouble over the north-east coast yesterday afternoon he had to be assisted into making an emergency landing by airmen at the Moray RAF base.
The star later posted a video of the plane taking off from the runway at Lossiemouth on Twitter and expressed his gratitude to the team there.
He said: “Thanks to all the staff at RAF Lossiemouth for looking after us rather unexpectedly.”
An RAF Lossiemouth representative replied, saying it was “always a pleasure to help unexpected guests”.
The video showed a panoramic view of the coastal town as Mr Fogle soared overhead after leaving the military base.
Ben Fogle launched to fame after starring in BBC reality series Castaway 2000, wherein he spent the year on Taransay in the Outer Hebrides.
He has since carved out a reputation as one of television’s most daring individuals, competing in sporting challenges across the globe.
