Moray Council has appointed a new corporate director for economic development, planning and infrastructure services.
Rhona Gunn, who was brought up in Burghead and went to high school in Lossiemouth, has held the post in an acting capacity for the past nine months.
Her areas of responsibility include planning, economic development, roads, waste management, environmental health and trading standards.
Mrs Gunn said: “It is a privilege to take on such a significant role in the area in which I grew up.
“I look forward to working with our partners and local communities to build on the area’s great natural assets.”
The mother-of-three studied law at Glasgow University and worked with a legal practice in Aberdeen before joining Moray Council 18 years ago.
Council chief executive Roddy Burns added: “These are challenging times for all local authorities and I am delighted that Rhona is now a member of the council’s corporate management structure on a permanent basis.”
