The vessel, Getaway, put out a Mayday call at 3.35am this morning when it ran aground and the boat’s engine failed. Lerwick and Sumburgh Coastguard crews both attended the scene to help the boat which was drifting onto rocks in Grutness Bay, Shetland. A local fishing vessel also helped to tow the yacht off the rocks. Lerwick RNLI all-weather lifeboat then took over and began towing the vessel back to Lerwick, which took three hours.
