A yacht with two people on board was towed to safety after it ran aground in Shetland yesterday evening. The 36ft vessel, named Calico Martlet, put out a mayday call to Shetland Coastguard after getting into trouble just off Cullivoe, Yell. Aith lifeboat was launched at 7.55pm but upon arrival, a local fishing boat had managed to tow the yacht off the bank. A Coastguard spokesman said that the yacht was berthed alongside the pier at Cullivoe by about 8.20pm and that no rescue helicopter was required.
