A classic car enthusiast is staging a rally to raise funds for a cancer charity.
Ron Billing, 80, will lead a fleet of about 30 vintage motors from Elgin to Aberdeen in aid of Clan Cancer Support on Friday.
The Portgordon native first staged the Clan cavalcade last year, raising £3,000 for the charity, and said this year’s run was already on course to top that effort.
Mr Billing said: “I’m very passionate about classic cars so when I decided to fundraise for Clan I wanted to involve that.
“I have an Alfa Romeo Spider myself and will be driving that, and the oldest car will be an Aston Martin 10 from 1937, but it isn’t essential that drivers use a classic car to take part.
“Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, so I can attest that Clan is a very worthy cause.
“We are already well on our way to topping last year’s total, so it seems to be taking off.”
Clan’s Moray services co-ordinator, Tracey Sellar, yesterday lauded Mr Billings’s fundraising quest.
She said: “It will be fantastic to see cars of all shapes and sizes from yesteryear come together in aid of the charity, it’s sure to be a fantastic day out.
“Events like these really help put our services in these areas on the map and I’d like to thank all those who are planning to give up their time to be part of the event.”
The fleet will stop at Balmoral, Ballater and Banchory on its way to the Clan base in Aberdeen.
