A woman was taken to hospital yesterday after a tanker collided with her car in Moray.
The driver was travelling eastwards into Elgin on the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road when her silver Honda Jazz was struck from behind by the tanker.
An ambulance was called to the scene of the accident, which happened close to Elgin’s Eight Acres Hotel shortly after 1pm, and the woman was taken to Elgin’s Dr Gray’s hospital.
Police arrived shortly thereafter and the road was partially blocked while the badly damaged Honda was moved from the road.
Westbound traffic tailed back almost as far as the hotel while diversions were put in place.
Fragments of the car’s shattered tail-lights and rear windscreen lay strewn across the carriageway following the incident, and the back of the Honda Jazz was left crumpled.
A police spokesman confirmed: “Just past the Eight Acres Hotel outside Elgin the ambulance came across a two-vehicle crash.
“The car appeared to have been rear-ended by a tanker, causing minor injuries to one woman.
“The road was cleared by about 1.40pm and the woman was taken to hospital to have minor injuries treated.”
