Stornoway Coastguard were called to the Portuguese MV Azores, harboured in the town, after reports of the pensioner fracturing her hip. A lifeboat was sent to the vessel at around 8.15am and the woman was taken to Western Isles Hospital. A coastguard spokeswoman said: “We had a medical evacuation this morning from a cruise liner. “An elderly female fractured her hip and we sent a lifeboat to take her ashore.”
