A drive to lure more visitors to Moray has been given a £20,000 boost.
The cash will be used to market the region in a campaign which will focus on manufacturing.
VisitScotland has pledged the funds to the Moray Speyside Tourism group, which hopes its Made in Moray scheme will draw overseas visitors keen to sample locally-produced food and drink.
The initiative will put particular emphasis on malt whisky and craft beer output.
A portion of the windfall will also go towards a project called IV36, which will focus on attractions in Forres and the surrounding area.
The group has plans to further drive interest in Moray’s diverse cycling opportunities and its picturesque coastline.
VisitScotland awarded a total of £20,648.42 from its growth fund to the group, which is part of the local chamber of commerce.
The chamber’s executive director, Margery McLennan, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded assistance towards the costs of our Made in Moray marketing campaign.
“The growth fund award will enable us to develop four linked campaigns for Moray Speyside over the coming months.
“We want to further promote our delicious local larder, the beauty of the coast, the variety of cycling opportunities in the region and the appeal of the Forres area.
“We look forward to working together with VisitScotland to develop the potential of tourism in our stunning region.”
Forres councillor Anne Skene added: “I think it’s great that part of the donation will be spent on Forres, as it has a lot to offer and I don’t feel that is marketed enough.”
Moray Speyside Tourism, which works on behalf of 600 local businesses, will use various promotional tactics during the campaign.
The VisitScotland growth fund is reserved to help tourist groups with advertising campaigns.
Scott Armstrong, regional director of VisitScotland, said: “This marketing activity will help put Moray Speyside on the map as a must-visit destination.”
