A troupe of top darts stars stepped up to the oche in Moray this weekend to raise funds for a local children’s charity.
Three top-ranking professionals put their skills to the test against some of the region’s top amateurs in a series of friendly contests at Lossiemouth Town Hall on Saturday evening.
Former World Masters champion Robert Thornton, north-east luminary John “Hendo” Henderson and Russian arrows ace Anastasia Dobromyslova all took part.
Cash generated by the event went towards children’s cancer group Logan’s Fund, and early estimates indicate the evening helped raise between £1,500 and £2,000 to help fight neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of the disease.
Organiser Stuart Smylie yesterday spoke of his plans to make the fundraiser an annual occasion.
Mr Smylie said: “Everybody, including the players, all really enjoyed the night.
“Many folk who came along weren’t especially big darts fans, but everyone got into it and they were all singing along with the players’ walk-on tunes.
“The professionals were all on top form, and nobody from any local teams was able to beat them.”
He added: “We are hoping to make this a yearly event for Logan’s Fund, and we are looking at staging the next night early on next year.”
Logan’s Fund was set up in honour of Lossiemouth three-year-old Logan Main, who died in 2009.
The group has worked to raise funds to help combat childhood cancer as a tribute to the toddler.
