His car left the road and ended up in a ditch beside the A970 road at Langkames, two miles south of Voe. The motorist was reported to be trapped in the wreckage and firefighters used stabilisers before helping paramedics to remove him from the vehicle. It is understood he had lower back pain and was taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick. The road was shut to allow emergency services to attend but it has since reopened.
