Personnel from RAF Lossiemouth recently paid tribute to one of the airbase’s fallen heroes with a charity golf game.
Senior aircraftman Chris Bridge, 20, died in an explosion in Afghanistan, in 2007.
Since then, the 51 Squadron RAF Regiment has staged an annual golfing event in his memory.
The Chris Bridge Memorial Cup was this year played at Maverston Golf Club, and around £200 raised during the day went to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
A total of 15 players from several different squadrons took part, and Corporal Chris Caldwell of 2622 (Highland) Squadron emerged victorious with a score of 70.
Sergeant Roy “Doc” Geddes, who received the Military Cross in 2013 in recognition of his efforts in Afghanistan, organises the yearly competition.
The sergeant said: “We run this event every year to keep Chris Bridges’ memory alive at the station and within 51 Squadron RAF Regiment.
“He was a likeable, witty person and his death was felt deeply across the ranks.”
Christopher Bridge was born in Sheffield and grew up in the town, relocating to Lossiemouth after completing basic RAF training in November 2005.
It was during a deployment on Operation HERRICK in August 2007 that the vehicle he was travelling in struck an IED, resulting in his death.
