Highland League reigning champions Brora Rangers fell to their second league defeat of the season as Formartine United moved to the top of the table with a 2-0 win at Dudgeon Park.
Formartine opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a superb Garry Wood effort. The former Montrose man burst forward and beat two defenders before bending the ball beyond Joe Malin in the Brora goal.
The hosts tried to find a way back into the game but in the 75th minute Formartine doubled their advantage when Paul Lawson’s flighted free kick picked out substitute Neil Gauld and, three minutes after entering the fray, the former Inverurie Locos forward, headed home from six yards to secure all three points.
