A Shetland man has admitted shooting an air rifle at the house his brother was in after a row.
Kyle MacGregor yesterday pleaded guilty to recklessly discharging the air rifle, shooting at the house and cracking several glass windowpanes.
The house in Mossbank was occupied at the time of the incident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday, August 23.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie told Lerwick Sheriff Court that MacGregor had fallen out with his brother, was drunk and “simply making a fool of himself”.
His brother and others in the house had attempted to get 22-year-old MacGregor to go home, but he subsequently returned and fired around half a dozen rounds at the address.
The fiscal added that MacGregor, of 4 Brae Head, Mossbank, had cooperated fully with the police when he was apprehended.
Sheriff Philip Mann said he was “very conscious of air rifle matters” and bailed MacGregor, adjourning the case until October 28 for a social work report to be compiled.
“This is a very serious matter and I have to look carefully at all options available to me,” Sheriff Mann added.
