Five people are due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday after a disturbance at a house in a Moray port.
Police were called to the property in Buckie’s Wallace Avenue amid reports of a fracas.
Officers were involved in a tense, 10-hour stand-off with the people inside the upstairs flat after a mattress and sofa were used to barricade the door.
Police yesterday confirmed that five males – two aged 19, two aged 18 and one aged 17 – had been arrested and charged following the stand-off.
A large area of Wallace Avenue was cordoned-off to keep dozens of onlookers at bay during Thursday’s incident and nearby residents were advised to stay indoors.
The stand-off was ended when officers wearing riot gear and armed with plastic shields stormed the building.
Rumours have since swirled around Moray’s biggest port town on the circumstances behind the stand-off.
A police spokeswoman said yesterday: “This is being treated as a disturbance which occurred between individuals.”
Police were called to the flat around 5.30am and the stand-off was ended around 3pm.
A report on the incident has been submitted the procurator fiscal at Elgin.
