A crew of holiday-makers teamed up over the weekend to tidy one of Moray’s most picturesque beauty spots.
Staff and visitors from Lossiemouth’s Silver Sands caravan park, which is located just above the town’s West Beach, took to the shores armed with litter pickers and sturdy bin bags.
The volunteers, who were marking the end of the summer season, set to work on removing debris which has amassed along the seafront over the past few months.
The group collected items such as old fishing nets and lobster creels, a sheet of tin, broken plastic spades and bottles, cans and sweet wrappers.
Even a worn and dishevelled duvet was discovered amongst the refuse, and swiftly removed from the bay.
Silver Sands management organised the event as part of the Beachwatch campaign run by the Marine Conservation Society.
The drive aims to highlight littering along the UK’s coastline, and the threat it poses to marine wildlife.
Rebecca Grant, general manager at Silver Sands, said the firm was looking into sprucing up its neighbouring shore on a more regular basis.
She said: “There was a great team atmosphere with everyone pitching in to keep West Beach looking beautiful.
“After the success of this event, we are looking forward to organising future cleans that we hope local people will get involved with.”
