A male motorist has been killed in Aberdeenshire after his car crashed into a lorry in the early hours of this morning.
The collision happenedbetween Fyvie and Oldmeldrum shortly before 3.30am today (Monday October 26) at Blackbog, just south of St Katherines and involved a black Peugeot and articulated Tesco lorry.
Fire-crews were called to cut the trapped motorist free of the car.
A Scottish Ambulance spokesman said: “We deployed an ambulance, a GP was sent for and the RAF were asked to attend.
“The RAF were stood down after it became apparent no patient would need transported to hospital.”
Police confirmed a 46 year old man had died.
A police spokesperson added: “The 31 year old male driver of the HGV suffered minor injuries and was taken to Inverurie hospital for treatment.
“Police Scotland are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to call on 101.”
The A947 between Fyvie and Oldmeldrum has now reopened.
