A 29-year-old woman has died following a two car crash on an island road.
A 26-year-old man is due to appear at Oban Sheriff Court today following the crash which took place on Mull last night.
A police spokeswoman said this morning: “At about 8.15pm last night two cars were involved in a crash on the A849 road near Craignure on the Isle of Mull.
“Emergency services attended. A 29-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 26-year-old man has been arrested. He is currently in police custody in connection with the incident.
“Inquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash.
“The man is going to appear at Oban Sheriff Court today.”
The accident took place on the A849 between Craignure and Fishnish.
The A849 remains closed in both directions at the Craignure junction.
