A reclaimed Sea King search and rescue helicopter will double as a unique Santa’s grotto for Moray youngsters this weekend.
Volunteers at the Morayvia Science and Technology Centre, outside Kinloss, have decorated the legendary copter in yuletide decor to transform it into a Christmas attraction.
The team hope the chance to visit Santa in the confines of the Sea King will spark an interest in engineering among their young visitors.
Morayvia chairman Mark Mair said: “We have built a Santa’s grotto inside the Sea King, it’s the first time something like this has ever been done.
“We hope this will bring more children to the centre, and that their attention will be caught by all the other attractions too.”
The Sea King has been moved from its usual spot outside the centre to a space nearer the door incase of bad weather.
Christmas came early for the centre in June when the Ministry of Defence agreed to bequeath it the retired Sea King Mk3 XZ592 copter.
It has since taken pride of place at the tourist venue.
The Santa sessions will run tomorrow and Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
