A group of amateur filmmakers will unveil their latest project in Moray tonight.
The Moving Picts community film group formed in Forres in 2013, and for the past two years it has helped nurture a new generation of talent in the region.
At a special cast and crew premiere event at the Forres Enterprise Park this evening, the members will celebrate their latest work.
The short film, called Rowan, details a young woman’s struggle to come to terms with terminal cancer.
The group’s director of photography, Sven Skatun, said the piece was a “powerful little story”.
Mr Skatun added: “It can be dark, but it is also heartwarming, and it’s something a lot of people will be able to relate to.”
When the collective began work in 2013, under the leadership of professional filmmaker Tim Flood, it was with the intention of attracting budding local talent keen to share their passion for cinema.
Since then the collective has produced 10 short films, two of which have been beamed to audiences at the Edinburgh International Short Film Challenge.
Mr Skatun added: “We have been very productive, but for us it’s just the joy of making films that matters.
“We are not intended to be a commercial outfit, we do it for the pleasure that filmmaking brings.
“And as we gather more and more experience, we are making better films.
“We have other, bigger projects on the drawing board that we are eager to begin work on next year.”
Moving Picts said new members are always welcome to join the group, regardless of their background.
Mr Skatun said the initiative offers a “great springboard” for those looking to enter the profession, while also providing a bonding opportunity for passionate amateurs.
