An Orkney care home is to be replaced as part of a major redesign aimed at modernising services in the islands.
Orkney Islands Council have advertised for a design consultant to oversee the replacement of St Peter’s House in Stromness.
The current facility is designed to care for 32 residents who have low to medium dependency levels.
The council anticipate that in the future older people requiring residential care will be those with high dependency needs
They plan to replace the aging facility with a new modern home with a capacity for 40 residents at a new site in Stromness near the listed Garson House.
The authority has advertised for a design consultant services for the project.
The project is estimated to cost around £7.5million in total and is estimated to be finished by Autumn 2018.
