Turriff United manager Ross Jack was happy with his team’s 1-0 win over Deveronvale which kept them on the fringes of the Highland League title race.
Victory at the Haughs was seldom in doubt and Jack said: “We expected them to keep the game tight as like ourselves they had a few injuries.
“We knew they would get everyone behind the ball and keep one in attack to start with, they tried to slow the game down so we had to be patient and ease our way into things.
“Once Andy MacAskill got into the game and got on the ball things started to happen and he made a big difference.”
Deveronvale manager Steve Dolan conceded a the lack of an edge cost his side and said: “It was disappointing. I have said before Turriff are a quality team, and I believe they are under-rated.
“They bossed the first half and at times we had to ride our luck. We maybe switched off for a second just before half-time, We thought we could get in at the interval at 0-0 but we lost a poor goal as I think we could have defended the chance better.”
