Plans have been lodged to extend a popular beachfront eatery to give stunning views of the sea.
The application has been lodged by the owner of Aberdeen’s Pavilion Cafe, who wants to add a new level to the building and provide 36 additional tables.
The ground floor of the building, which is next to the Inversnecky Cafe, would have 32 tables.
According to the plans the first floor extension would include glass screening, giving views of the North Sea.
Cafe owner Paul Dawson said: “The beach is a very popular place.
“But for me, the beach needs a bit of TLC on the promenade and any investment is definitely positive.
“Moving the cafe up a level will mean people can see more of the beach and the sea, which is very exciting. I think the views would be spectacular.”
Plans to breathe new life into the nearby site of the blaze-hit Jimmy Chungs restaurant were approved in the summer.
The owners of the Hornblowers eatery at Gourdon won permission to transform it into a bistro-style restaurant and takeaway, as well as a 1950s-style ice cream parlour.
The building – which housed Jimmy Chungs, the Pier Bistro, TC Fish Restaurant and ADS Janitorial – burned down in February 2014 despite the efforts of more than 50 firefighters to save it.
The new 16,000sq ft restaurant will include 250 seats over two floors, terracing and heated outdoor areas, plus an adjoining 650sq ft takeaway and 2,500sq ft ice cream parlour.
