Friends and neighbours have said two Speyside pensioners who were found dead after going missing from their homes would be “sadly missed”.
Kathleen Edward, 85, was reported missing from her Aberlour home on Tuesday.
Rosemary Laing, 77, disappeared from her home at Rothes the following day.
The bodies of both women were discovered along the River Spey, near Rothes, on Thursday following extensive searches.
Police said their deaths were unconnected.
Jessie Brandy, 81, lived near Mrs Edward in Aberlour’s Broomfield Square for 30 years.
She said she was “shocked” by the death of her friend, who she described as an “outgoing lady” with a wide social circle.
Ms Brandy said: “Kathy used to organise bus trips to theatre shows in Elgin, Aberdeen and Inverness.
“They would be things like bothy ballads, or musicals, and people would have a great time going along.
“She had a lot of friends in Aberlour, she was well thought of.
“I went to whist drives with her too, she was an outgoing person so this has just come as a shock to us all.”
Mrs Edward was described as being particularly close to her grandson, Jamie Stephen, who appealed for information on her whereabouts after she was reported missing.
Ms Laing, who was known to friends as Rosie, was a popular resident in Spey Street in Rothes.
Yesterday her closest friends were too upset to speak about her death, but those who lived near her described her as a “quiet neighbour” who was always pleasant.
