North-east residents are being invited to have their say on a new £150million transformation of NHS Grampian’s Foresterhill Campus.
At least 10 new major buildings are planned for the site over the next five years, including a “state of the art” Baird Family Hospital, the ANCHOR Centre for people with cancer and blood disorders, a patient hotel, a multi-storey car park, and a new life sciences centre to be shared with Aberdeen University.
Last month the NHS Grampian board agreed to push ahead with the six-storey, 1,300 space, car park which is being made possible thanks to a £10.7million donation from Sir Ian Wood’s charity The Wood Foundation.
There would also be a new Foresterhill health centre and a replacement for the existing mortuary.
The plans form part of a major development programme by NHS Grampian which is investing £300million in health facilities across the region over next six years.
It will also include an energy sub station to help cut the health board’s carbon footprint and lower energy costs.
On Thursday, members of the public can give their views on the plans at a consultation event at Rosemount Community Centre.
Gerry Donald, head of physical planning at NHS Grampian, encouraged people to attend.
“This is the latest in a series of information events we’ve held on the proposed redevelopment of Foresterhill,” he said.
“We’ve had some good really enthusiastic feedback at these events so far and I hope that will continue on Thursday.
“We have also involved around 200 clinicians and operational staff in workshops to develop the clinical plans for these facilities. Over the last few months and that work is now almost complete.
“While it is clearly important these facilities meet our own clinical requirements, it is just as crucial they also match the needs of the public.
“We are keen to make the patient experience on the site as comfortable as possible which is why I’d encourage as many people as possible to come along to the information day.
“In addition to the images of the site, detailed plans will also be on display and staff from the project team will also be on hand to answer any questions people have.”
The event runs from 10am to 8pm.
